Mangaluru, Oct 17, 2019: Speaking to officials at the Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat review meeting held at Nethravathi Hall in Zilla Panchayat office on October 16. MLC Ivan D’Souza squarely blamed officials for not taking timely action for drinking water schemes.
Congress’ D’Souza warned of meeting Mescom managing director and complaining against the negligent attitude of the officials of the Mescom in providing electricity to the borewells sanctioned under Ganga Kalyana programme of the government.
Taluk Panchayat President Muhammed Monu and other members accused Public Works Department (PWD) of not completing Ganjimutt-Kuppepadavu main road within the stipulated time.
The MLC directed assistant executive engineer (AEE) of the PWD to complete the work on priority basis. He threatened to write to chief secretary recommending action against the erring officials, for the delay.
Taluk Panchayat member Sridhar urged the TP to clear encroachments on government lands.
Mangaluru Tahsildar Guruprasad said that regarding the encroachments, the Taluk Panchayat would appoint government advocates to fight cases in the court.
D’Souza expressed disappointment over officials from Mines and Geology department skipping the meeting.
Taluk Panchayat members accused officials of not responding to the queries of the elected members. There were several matters neglected and pointed out by various representatives at the meeting.
