MLA Vedavyas Kamath visits Thumbay, AMR dams, urges to stop water rationing

Mangaluru, Apr 23, 2019: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath accompanied by Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty and some former BJP corporators visited the Thumbay vented dam and the AMR dam site at Shambhur and spoke to the officials regarding the present water levels in the two dams. He has also urged the administration to stop water rationing in Mangaluru and resort to strict water rationing for industries in MSEZ.
He also claimed that the present water level of 5.2 meters at Thumbay dam is sufficient for the city for one month. He further observed that the administration can resort to water rationing if the water level in the dam reduces to four meters.
At Shambhur dam site he learnt through the AMR Hydro Power Plant authorities that the power generation has been suspended in the absence of water inflow.
District BJP Vice President Ravishanker Mijar, former Corporators Poornima, Roopa D Bangera and Premanand Shetty were also present.
