Mangaluru, Jan 8, 2016 :  MLA of Mangaluru South J.R.Lobo visited various prominent junctions in the city including Dr Ambedkar Circle, Nanthoor Junction and Hampankatta  on January 8, Friday and issued necessary instructions to the authorities concerned to solve the problems in the respective areas. The MLA was accompanied by MCC Commissioner H S Gopalakrishna, ACP (Traffic) Udaya Nayak and  several other MCC officials.

The MLA who took serious cognizance of the traffic problems  directed for measures to ease the problem as also to take steps to lay footpaths  and interlocks wherever necessary. He also directed the officials to provide suitable parking facility for vehicles. The MLA even suggested shifting some bus stops.

Later  Lobo spoke to media persons  and said the main objective of his visit was to address the traffic problems confronting various areas of the city. He also said MCC officials will also conduct such checks on a regular basis once in a fortnight to get to know the problems facing the people.

There is a proposal to install 42 speed breakers with a view to check accidents, he said and added necessary steps would be taken in this direction. He  further stated that the  concretisation of Shivabhagh to Nantoor stretch would be taken up  very soon.

The MLA also informed about the Traffic Week to be observed by the Traffic Department  on January 18 and  said officials of various departments will take part in the programmes wherein suggestions can be given on improving traffic condition in the city.
