Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2017: The tussle between Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava and former minister Krishna Palemar over the proposed fish market complex at Suratkal reached a flash point on October 27, Friday with Bava declaring at a press meet that the Suratkal fish market complex woud be a reality.
Bava came out in strong words against Palemar and alleged that the latter was creating confusion in the minds of the public over the issue.
Taking strong exception to the statement made by Palemar in an interview that a fish market at a cost of Rs 120 crore was impossible and that it may not even earn Rs 50 crore, Bava said he has ensured sanction of Rs 61 crore for the project from the government. The balance fund would come from MCC under the KUIDFC Fund, said an optimistic Bava.
A temporary market that will come up at a cost of Rs 3 crores will have 240 shops, he said and also added that developmental works worth Rs 300 crores are being undertaken in his constituency.
Harish Kumar, District Congress President, Shashidhar Hegde, Corporator and former mayor, Pratibha Kulai, Corporator and others were present.
