Mangaluru, May 13, 2016: Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava accompanied by other elected representatives and officials inspected the Kavoor Kere which is crying for attention owing to lack of maintenance since the past several years. The lake which would have been a source of water for the area, is in a pathetic state due to contamination and slush.
The MLA later suggested to the officials to initiate necessary steps that would help in conserving the lake. He also took note of the fact that drainage water from several houses in elevated areas in the region, flows close by the lake.
Later, speaking to reporters, the MLA said steps would be taken to conserve the lakes in Mangaluru North Assembly constituency limits in a phased manner.
Mayor Harinath, local Corporator Deepak Poojary, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, MCC officials and officials of Minor Irrigation Department were present.
Shramadan to clean up Kavoor Kere : A special meeting held here under the aegis of Kavoor Kere Development Committee and Praja Vikas Jana Seva Trust has decided to clean up the lake through Shramadan on May 15 from 8 am 10 12 noon and thus initiate the process of development of the lake. It was also decided to hold an awareness campaign in this regard.
MLA Bava, local Corporator Deepak Poojary, Lake Development Committee leader Oswald D’Silva and others were present.
