MITE excels at Hoverpod challenge

Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2019:  The students of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) participated in the HOVERPOD Challenge and won second place in the National Space Students Challenge (NSSC) organised by IIT Kharagpur recently.

The students who won the award are Adarsh T, Swathira, Shreesha K J, Akshay Kamath, Jayantha, Junaid M J, Kavyashree C M, Prachi Sahu, Yuktha N Gowda, Shreya S and Nithyashree U from the Department of Aeronautical Engineering.

A total of 26 teams participated in the national-level competition including various IIT and NIT teams. The challenge was to build a hover-board based on the given specifications.

The hover-board had to cross various obstacles, travel on water and reach the finishing line.

Based on the precision in the working of the hover-board, and skill of the controller, path accuracy, marks were awarded.

This is the second consecutive time MITE students have participated in the national level hover-pod challenge and bagged a prize. MITE had won the first and second prize HOVERPOD competition in 2018 also - this is seen as a new development for future progress.
