Mangaluru, Aug 26,2016: Reports indicate that a Twitter account set up on directions from AAI, Airports Authority of India, is supposed to give flyers, domestic and international, using the airport at Kenjar an opportunity to convey their feelings and observations to the MIA authorities. MIA is one among the 65 operational airports across India under AAI control that have been asked to have official Twitter accounts and thus be in sync with thoughts of the modern-day flyer who are increasingly use tweets to do so.
Just two tweets in four days may not suggest a good strike rate in the race to dash off 140 characters on the microblogging site - Twitter. Yet @aaimlrairport - the official twitter account of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) that is taking its baby steps on social media in its endeavor to reach out to air passengers is having a slow take-off. Despite this, the Twitter handle has already registered 41 followers and in turn is following the account @narendramodi.
J T Radhakrishna, airport director, MIA said that even AAI HQ will henceforth be in a position to monitor public reactions and suggestions on service improvements pertaining to particular airports and act on them at the headquarters level. This also allows the respective airport directors or their deputies to take stock of the public feedback and take necessary corrective action at their respective level, he said, adding such actions will also add to customer satisfaction.
