Mangaluru, Sep 15, 2017 :’MCC Civic Group’, an action committee of civil society that advocates civil participation for better governance with regard to  on civic issues in the city, staged a protest at Bendur on Sept 14, Thursday against Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) taking up a road development work near St. Agnes College without shifting utility lines in the area of the work.

MCC

It was explained the MCC  engineers were laying the concrete road without shifting the telephone and power supply cables, water supply lines and underground sewage lines.  They have begun laying the bed of concrete upon the cables and pipelines without securing them and providing for trouble shooting and regular maintenance and checks. If the work was completed in such a condition it would definitely cause damage and trouble in various serves in the area, an activist and a member of the group said.

He urged the corporation to resume the work only after providing for the utility lines as necessary. Members of Aam Aadmi Party supported the protest. They have decided to lodge a criminal case against the corporation if it went ahead with the works as of now. .

Negligence of the engineer in charg of the work . Action has to be taken on him because once the work is complete its a head ache to get it removed . Work may be delayed but will be systematic
