Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2019: Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde has said that the MCC has until now collected Rs 11 crore towards water bills out of the targeted Rs 35 crores. He also stated that a Water Adalat will be held on October 14 to redress grievances pertaining to water bills.
The Commissioner said there was a delay in disbursing the water bills as the staff concerned were deputed to the drive against Dengue. The Commissioner also warned of stern action against those having unauthorised tap water connections. He said such persons should either regularise the connections or else snap it failing which action will follow.
He said the members of the general public can pay their water bills online. On this occasion, the Commissioner requested the public not to let waste water into storm water drains.
The Commissioner said permission from the MCC was mandatory for any road cutting work for personal works. Those who take up such works have to pay the prescribed fee, he said adding road cutting for any work should be done only if inevitable.
He also warned of action against indiscriminate digging of roads for various works.
