Mangaluru, Oct 09, 2017: Mayor Kavitha Sanil along with the MCC team during the raid diconnected the illegal water connections to "Vailankanni’s Abode Apartment" in MaryHill on October 09, Monday.
According to Mayor, the builder had permission from the Corporation for water lines and electricity on for consruction of the Aparatment. He lacked permission from MCC for water lines ,but continued the same. There were 24 flats in the building among which only 13 of them were occupied.
She also said that Vailankanni’s Abode lacked a proper drainage system. Every night the sewage is being drained to the next compound due to which there was bad odour and has been a breeding place for mosquitoes. Prior to the construction of this building the surrounding was well maintained.
She warned the builder to pay the penalty to MCC for misusing the water connections as well as electricity for five years . The officials were asked to take action against the builder and suspend the other under-construction work too. The residents complained that they had purchased the flat trusting the builder, but he had duped them.
The residents Thanked Mayor for her humble co-opertaion and acting swiftly on the problems faced by them all these days.
