Mangaluru, Feb 26, 2017: DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that he would instruct the officials to get reimbursed the loss caused during the February 25 bundh from those who gave the bundh call.
Speaking to reporters here on February 26, Sunday, Rai said there is a Supreme Court ruling which states that those who gave bundh call should themselves bear the losses caused during the bundh.
On the unprecedented security cover provided to Kerala Chief Minister during his visit to the city, Rai said Vijayan is a constitutionally elected leader and he has been provided due protection in accordance t o the constitution.
On the private buses remaining off the roads during the bundh, Rai said the city needs more government city bus services.
Stating that the students who had to appear exams on Saturday had to face problems due to the bundh, the Minister said the RTO had not taken adequate measures to ensure adequate transport arrangements. He informed that he would write to the department concerned to initiate action against the RTO.
On reports that ministers who have served for four years will be shown doors, Rai said "I am a dedicated party worker and will abide by the party and high command decision. But I have no information regarding cabinet expansion, he clarified.
Defends Khader: Regarding the ’chappal’ remarks of Minister UT Khader, Rai said his colleague had made the right statement regarding those who offended the constitution and those who belong to an organisation which had distributed sweets when the Mahatma was killed. "There are leaders who have made even more serious statement s, Khader’s statement is nothing when compared to the fire remarks of some," Rai said making an indirect reference to MP Nalin.
