Locals panic as gas tanker climbs divider near Maroli; no leakage

Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2015: There was some amount of panic among people in the Padil Nanthoor, Maroli area on September 6, Sunday morning when a gas tanker belonging to HPCL climbed on to the divider on the Padil-Nanthoor Road near Maroli. Luckily there were no casualties.

It is said the mishap occurred as the driver lost control over the vehicle. The fire tender vehicles  which rushed to the spot  ensured that there was no gas leakage. Later a crane  was used to  correct the position of the tanker on the road.

The mishap reminded locals of the recent gas tanker tragedy near Bargi in Kumta which claimed eight lives and left many injured.

The speed governor is a must for these heavy vehicles. Thank god the traffic was less at time of the accident and there was no leakage of LPG from tanker.
