Lobo inspects Bejai market complex works ; assures early completion of project

Mangalore, July 2, 201113: Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo visited the under construction Bejai market on July 2, Tuesday and inspected the progress of works.

Speaking to reporters  later, the MLA said  the construction works which were initiated in 2004 could not be completed on time for want of  funds.  He said though a sum of Rs 1.4 crores out of the total project cost of Rs 4.8 crores has been sanctioned, it has not yet reached the concerned. He said all out   efforts would be made to complete the project at the earliest.

 

 

 

The MLA said he would take up the matter with the authorities concerned in the Mangalore City Corporation and ensure that the construction works are expedited.

Lobo said the ground plus three floor project, will house  flower shops, vegetable market and open space to sell vegetables for temporary vendors in the level one floor, while in the level two floor there would be fish stalls, chicken, mutton, beef and pork stalls and also dry fish stalls. The first floor will have a super market and five shops, he said.

When press persons drew the attention of the MLA towards the condition of the central market, he said  there were even plans to renovate it and added all measures would be taken step by step.

Prior to his visit to the market, Lobo planted saplings at Bejai and met IDF consultant Dharmaraj and held discussions regarding the  Bejai market project.  Dharmaraj and Contractor Anantha Krishna Shetty  gave information regarding the market plans to the MLA.
