Mangaluru, Apr 18, 2019: Former MLA J R Lobo who has alleged that the names of many voters have been deleted in the last minute at several places in Mangaluru South Assembly constituency, has demanded investigation into the same,
Addressing press persons at the District Congress Office on April 18, Thursday, Lobo said "the names which were in the voter list during scrutiny in January and March are now missing. It was only when some voters went to the polling booth that it came to light that their names have been deleted. Hundreds of voters had to return without voting." "This has happened without the notice of the Deputy Commissioner who is also the Election Officer," Lobo alleged and demanded a thorough probe,
He said at least 25 names have been deleted in almost all the 240 polling booths in Mangaluru South. Thus in all 5,000 voters name has been deleted in the constituency, he said adding there is a possibility of deletion of names of 50,000 voters in the entire constituency. He also stated that he would file a complaint with the State as well as the Central Election Commission.
