Delivering his inaugural address at the 82nd literary convention on theoccasion of Lakshadeepotsava in Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. He stated that literature and society go hand in hand. Literature is nothing but the reflection of society. Litterateurs have a responsibility to lead the society on the right path.Thel iterary field should be free of groupism,caste,politicsand politicalaffiliation.Litterateurs should stand by truth alone.
“Heritage is part o fculture,” he said and lamented on the moral degradation in society to day and decline in cultura lvalues in the country.
At this juncture,the all religious meet and literary convention in Dharmansthala provide a noble guidance to people. The Minister said that religious institutions should create awareness among people on social evils.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said that literature can bring about a positive change in society, by inspiring minds and imparting knowledge. Literature develops a mind set o f opposing injustice and exploitation. With this purpose,Shantivana trust has been distributing books on moral values to lakhs of schoolchildren. The reading habit is being encouraged by opening libraries in rural areas, under the rural development project of the Kshetra,Veerendra Heggade said.
