Liquor shop shut after protests in Kallagudde, Puttur

Puttur, Sep 27, 2017: Protests by the locals including school students and women turned fruitful as the excise officers shut a liquor shop at kallguddde in Noojibalthila Grama Panchayat of Puttur taluk. 

Liquor shop The locals had been protesting to close the liquor shop from September 11 as it could harm socio economic life of the people and as it had been functioning on government land illegally.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner (DC) had ordered for a survey following the allegations by the locals and the survey found that the liquor shop has encroached government land. Finally, the officers from excise department shut the liquor shop following an order from DC.
