Mangaluru: June 8,2015: A leopard was battling for life after being trapped in a snare that was placed in a field belonging to Sharada of Mittakurmbil at Aikala near Kinnigoli and was later rescued.
The two year old male leopard was accidently trapped in a snare and was taken to Pilikula biological park by the Forest Department.
The locals heard relentless barking of dogs and cry of wild animal when they were returning from some programme on Saturday June 6. The next day they found a leopard struggling to escape from snare. Soon the locals informed the Forest Department.
The forest range officer Parameshwar along with officials immediately arrived at the spot. The veterinary doctors too visited the spot.
The forest officials captured the big cat with the help of a net after freezing it from snare. It was then taken to Pilikula Biological Park.
The operation lasted for two hours.
