Mangaluru, Aug 01, 2019: In the wake of increasing cases of Dengue in Mangaluru, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Bharath Y Shetty of Mangaluru South and North constituencies respectively plan to set up teams at booth level to sensitize people on the preventive measures that need to be taken on an urgent basis to check the spread of Dengue.
This idea was mooted at a meeting held here on August 1, Thursday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and in the presence of various officials.
Addressing the meeting, Vedavyas Kamath said the booth level teams will be trained by MCC health officials and booth level campaign will commence from August 4.
Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil spoke about the various teams that are at work to check the spread of Dengue. On the complaint that Gujjarakere has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, the DC said the water there has been checked and no larvae of the Dengue causing mosquito has been found as of now. The administration was also undertaking measures to drop guppy fish in water bodies, he added.
