Leadership Awards conferred on Msgr. Fred Pereira, Vinay Hegde

Mangalore, Sep 11: The annual Leadership Awards 2010 – 11, instituted by the International Orientation Centre and International Institute for Public Policy) and sponsored by Max and Jessie Rasquinha of USA, were conferred on Msgr. Fred Pereira, the late former vicar general of Mangalore Diocese, and Vinay Hegde, the chancellor of Nitte University, on September 10 Saturday at a glittering awards ceremony held at AIMIT, the Beeri campus of St. Aloysius College.

Urmila Shetty, the divisional governor, spoke on leadership and Bharathi Shevgoor, the area governor, spoke on communication. Fr. Valerian D’Souza spoke on the life and achievements of the late Msgr. Fred Pereira and Joe Gonsalves spoke on the life of Vinay Hegde.

Scholarships of Rs. 25,000 each were awarded to Mehanaze of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte and Rajesh Martin Pais of St. Joseph’s Engineering College.

A classical dance programme and a colorful entertainment programme formed part of the event.
