Mangaluru, July 9, 2015 : Landslide near Yedakumeri between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road railway stations delayed not only the Bengaluru-Kannur/Karwar Express July 8, but also the Kannur/Karwar-Bengaluru express in the night. Departure of train nos. 16518/16524 was delayed by four hours from Mangalore Central, and the trains expected to leave only at around 1 a.m., instead of the scheduled 8.55 p.m.
While the Kannur-Bengaluru express reached Mangalore Central at the scheduled time, the Karwar-Bengaluru Express left Karwar only at 7.07 p.m., with its scheduled departure being 2.55 p.m. The delay was because of its late arrival at Karwar, said a spokesperson of Southern Railway’s Palakkad Division.
Train nos. 16517/16523, Bengaluru-Kannur/Karwar Express arrived at Mangalore Central about three hours late on July 8 morning. Train no. 16523 thus reached Karwar about four hours late, resulting in its delayed departure from the station.
The Karwar-Bengaluru Express was at Bijur station, at 9.48 p.m., as per information available on the Indian Railways’ National Train Enquiry System.
