Landslide near Konaje results in 15 feet deep crater

Mangaluru, July 5, 2016: : Heavy rains that have been lashing the region resulted in a landslide at Kallarakodi in Konaje Gram Panchayat limits on July 4 resulting in the formation of a 15 feet deep crater close by the residence of Sadashiva Devadiga.

Sadashiva was away in hospital to take care of his son who was injured in a road accident while his wife Saraswathi was alone in the house when the landslide occurred. The landslide was first noticed by a neighbour Agnes Lobo who immediately informed Saraswathi. It is said the crater was formed exactly at the same place where she used to wash vessels.

Responding immediately to the problem faced by the family due to landslide, Panchayat members along with other locals took immediate steps to fill the crater to ensure that the house was safe.

Shaukat Ali, Konaje GP Chief, Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu, BJP leader and others assisted in the relief operation.

The people have constructed houses even in the woods and the mud becomes soft due to which becomes a carter ,i think
