Landslide at Kunjathbail : Poor family’s newly built house damaged

Mangalore, June 11, 2013 : A newly constructed house belonging to a labourer was badly damaged due to land slide and collapse of a compound wall of a neighbour on June 11, Tuesday morning.

The house located near Vidya Jyothi School at Jyothinagar, Kunjathbail, was constructed at the bottom of a small hill. It belonged to Narayan Salian, a daily wage earner.

Though the house construction was in final stages, the family had already settled there. Narayan’s wife and son who were at home however were lucky as they ran out on hearing the sound. It is learnt, the compound wall of a neighbour’s house collapsed due to landslide, further damaging the house.

Local corporator Kunjathbail Mohammad and village accountant have visited the spot. The Corporator said he has already intimated the local MLA Moidin Bava and Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake who have assured assistance to the family.
