Kundapur, Jan 13, 2016: Bengaluru Police have arrested a man from Tekkatte in Kundapur taluk on the charges of blackmailing young pairs in parks in the capital by posing himself as a policemen. It is learnt, he even used to manage to get their jewellery through his threatening tactics.
The arrest was made on January 12, Tuesday and the accused has been identified as Ganesh Mogaveera(29). One Laxman (43), who used to buy jewellery from Ganesh has also been arrested. Nearly 341 grams of jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh have been recovered.
According to the police, Ganesh was in the habit of clicking pictures of lovers visiting Bengaluru parks and then approaching them in the guise of a policeman. He used to then succeed in forcing them to partake their jewellery after threatening to make the photos public. He was once earlier arrested in Hattiangady a year ago in a chain snatching case.
It is learnt, the accused worked in a hotel in Bengaluru. Sources said he has confessed that he had threatened at least 11 women in Bengaluru and was also in possession of 30 SIM cards. Ganesh was said to be a bigamist and had three children.
Are they not so foolish being duped by a stranger acting as the policemen? Earning by cheating people and blackmailing will not last for long. He has to be prepared to sit behind the bars.
