Kundapur, Jan 20, 2017 : A fish meal unit which was coming up near the Balkudru school at Hangarakatte was locked up by the Puttur Assistant Commissioner Shilpa Nag on January 19, Thursday after she visited the spot along with the Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty and other leaders in the backdrop of the protest by locals since Wednesday demanding that the unit should not be allowed to function.
The villagers ended their protest following the development.
The villagers had complained that the unit had come up without any permission and also that it would create problems for locals due to pollution.
The AC has also warned the fish meal unit authorities not to go ahead with any work.
ZP Vice President Sheela Shetty, TP Chief Nalini Pradeep Rao and others were present.
