Kundapur, March 18,2016: A woman hailing from Makkibettu here lost her life when she was hit by a Xylo tourist vehicle while crossing the National Highway at Tekkatte on March 17, Thursday evening. Some students from Malpe were travelling to Kodachadri in the vehicle.
The deceased woman is Lakshmi Madhyastha (52), wife of Srikanth Madhyastha.
The mishap took place when Lakshmi was on way to the local milk booth to fetch milk. It is said the Xylo tourist vehicle was over speeding resulting in the mishap.
The vehicle had in fact dragged Lakshmi upto nearly one hundred meters away.
Though the vehicle sped forth without stopping, it was chased by locals and stopped near the Railway Bridge at Madhuvana.
The driver was even thrashed by locals before handing him over to the police.
The deceased woman has left behind her husband, a daughter and two sons.
