Kundapur, July 14, 2015:  The case of missing of a 65 year old woman from  Korgi Charukottige near Tekkatte  continues to be a mystery with neither the family members of the woman nor the cops able to trace the whereabouts of the woman even 20 days after she went missing.

The missing woman is Malathi B Shetty (65), wife of Bhasker Shetty. It is learnt she was missing  since June 24 afternoon after she left home to visit a neighbour.

One  reason that is suspected is that Malathi might have been kidnapped for monetary gains as she was wearing gold worth Rs 3.5 lakhs while she had left home that day.

Even the canine squad which has been pressed into service has been of little help.

Posters carrying Malathi’s image has been pasted in public places so that public who might have seen the  woman anywhere could inform the police.

The family of Malathi as well as the police have left no stone unearthed in searching for Malathi in all ponds, wells and lakes in the vicinity. Even the CCTV footages of different temples have been checked.

Malathi’s son Satish Shetty who resides in the US is also back in hometown and is continuing efforts to trace his mother.

A special police team led by SI Naseer Hussain has been formed under the directions of DySP Manjunath Shetty to trace Malathi.

It is learnt, the family finding no other way had recently even consulted an astrologer who asked them to search for her in a nearby pond. But even that proved a futile exercise with fire service men unable to trace the body.

Meanwhile, her family members say  there is practically no reason for any suicide theory in this case. The missing woman is 5.5 feet tall, has grey hair, fair complexion  and speaks Kundapur Kannada.

Anyone having any details regarding Malathi can contact  Kundapur police or 9448770427, 9480402280.
