Kundapur: Duo arrested for assaulting lady ASI, head constable in police station

Kundapur, June 24, 2014: The Kundapur  police have arrested two persons on the charges of assaulting a lady ASI and a head constable on June 23, Monday. The arrested are Gururaj Chatra and Pratap Shetty alias Pakka.

 

According to reports, the two had approached the station  on Monday evening  and asked ASI Sudha Prabhu to lodge an FIR against a person in connection with a fight in a hotel. When the ASI asked them to file a written complaint, the two began to argue with the ASI.

The ASI who then decided to visit the spot,  summoned the police jeep  by telephoning the staff. At this juncture, the duo who reportedly misconstrued the ASI’s instructions  assaulted her and even the head constable Jayakar who came to her help.

Both the  injured cops were  admitted to hospital

In another development, KG Nityananda, a  hotelier, who is also a former councillor too lodged a complaint against the duo accusing them of assaulting him when he was sitting in his hotel. He also alleged that the duo had  gone on rampage inside the hotel and even escaped with his vehicle.

Even the hotelier Nityanand who has suffered injuries on his face has been hospitalised. He has said that his opposition to the functioning of a club in the town had led to the assault.

Investigations are underway.
