Kundapur : Bhajrangdal leader thrashed in public for rape attempt

Mangalore, May 30, 2013: A  Bhajrangdal leader of Kundapur was thrashed  by the public  for allegedly entering a house at Kadlur and trying to outrage the modesty of a woman on May 29, Wednesday night.

The accused has been identified as Dinesh Acharya, Co-Convenor of Kundapur unit of Bhajrangdal.  Acharya who has sustained grievous injuries, has been admitted to Manipal Hospital.

 

 

According to reports, Acharya had entered the house located in the vicinity of the mosque and then tried to  molest the married woman in the  house. It is said the woman’s sister raised a  cry when locals rushed to the spot and thrashed Dinesh in the process injuring him seriously.

Kundapur police who rushed to the spot,  admitted Dinesh to hospital. Six persons named Obedulla, Naushad, Jeffrey, Mohammed Rafiq, Syed and Muzammil, though were trapped, two of them namely Syed and Naushad managed to escape. Search is underway for them.

Security has been tightened in the village following the incident. Senior police officials including Kundapur DySP Yashoda  have visited the spot.

It is learnt, the husband of the victim woman was working in Dubai.  A case of attempt to rape has been registered in Kundapur police station. Dinesh Acharya too has lodged a complaint against some people who assaulted him.
