Kundapur, April 25, 2016 : An accused who was wanted in many theft cases, escaped from the clutches of the police at Saligrama on April 24, Sunday while he was being escorted to Kerala from Mumbai. The incident took place when the police had a brief stopover at Saligrama for lunch and had loosened the handcuffs of the accused named Mohammad Afzal.
The Kerala police who were earlier on the lookout for Afzal had rushed to Mumbai on gathering information that he was in hiding in Mumbai. A total of four personnel had nabbed him and were bringing him to Kerala when the accused managed to escape.
No sooner the accused gave the cops a slip, the local Kota police were informed and a search was launched.
Though the police reportedly spotted the accused during night time, he could not be trapped.
Search is presently underway for him.
