Udupi, May 19, 2015 : Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, said on Monday that the Union government was not planning to give tiger reserve tag to the Kudremukh National Park (KNP) which encompasses parts of Chikkamagaluru, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
Addressing presspersons here, Ms. Karandlaje said that the reports appearing in a section of the media that the Union government had decided on giving tiger reserve tag to the park were misleading. The power of issuing a notification for such a tag lay with the State government, she said.
She said that though the Congress government under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had completed two years in power, it had nothing to show in terms of concrete achievement. Ms. Karandlaje criticised Mr. Siddaramaiah for not accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent trip to China despite being invited. “This would have brought more investments to the State,” she said.
BJP leaders T.V. Hegde, Gitanjali Suvarna and M.R. Hegde were present.
