Mangaluru, Oct 10, 2019: Minister for Fisheries, Ports & Muzrai and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary appointed as Leader of the House in the Karnataka Legislative Council.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa appointed Kota Srinivas Poojari as the three-day state legislative session is slated to begin today, October 10
Mr. Poojary, who hails from an Other Backward Community, had served as leader of the opposition in the council when the Congress-JDs coalition government was ruling Karnataka.
Given the tardy approach of the state government in taking up flood relief works in the ravaged north Karnataka and elsewhere, the opposition, led by the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular), is likely to corner the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its inability to get the expected financial help from the Centre. The recent farmers’ suicides will also figure prominently in the discussion spread over three days which is expected to be stormy.
