Kota, Oct 20, 2016: A team of officials led by Department of Mines and Geology and the Tahsildar raided the Hangarakatte water ship yard and seized sand worth crores of rupees which was stored there.
Once earlier, the Brahmavar Special Tahsildar Pradeep Kurudekar had visited the place and had assured to seize the sand stocked there unauthorisedly. However, locals later complained that no step has been taken to file an FIR following which Wednesday’s raid was held. But, the shipyard authorities have said that the sand stocked was the result of desilting done in the area in view of the inconvenience caused to movement of ships.
Nearly 4,500 metric units of sand was found stocked in the place. However, locals alleged that private parties have been given contract to dredge sand. It has also been gathered that the dredging machinery had been shifted to some other place.
