Konkani playwright S. S. Prabhu is no more

Mangalore, May 20: Noted Konkani playwright Saturine Miranda Sathu Prabhu, popularly known as S. S. Prabhu, passed away at the age of 99 at Nympha Sadan, Ursuline Convent, Pandeshwar on May 19, Thursday.

He is survived by wife Juliet Miranda (80), daughter Asha Menezes, son-in-law Arunlal, and grandchildren Amber, Amor, and others.

S. S. Prabhu has to his credit popular plays such as Raitak Jait, Jodi Tekid Mode, Muje Mone Monica, and many more. He has served in the revenue department all over Karnataka and retired as the tahsildar in 1976. He belonged to Bejai Parish and spent the last few months of his life at Nympha Sadan, Ursuline Convent, Pandeshwar.

His mortal remains will be placed in St. Francis Xavier Church at Bejai at 4:00 p.m. on May 22, Sunday. The final rites will be conducted at 4:30 p.m.
