Mangaluru, Dec 12, 2019: According to a press note from Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Dr K Jagadish Pai, the Karnataka government has approved Rs 5 crore on December 10 for the construction of a Konkani Bhavan in the city. A sum of Rs 3 crore has already been released it is said.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Dr K Jagadish Pai said that the Konkani Bhavan was a long standing demand. The matter drew his attention on appointment as the president,recently. He met Kannada, Culture and Tourism minister C T Ravi four times with the demand in Bengaluru and also met Dakshina Kannada DC Sindhu B Rupesh with the demand for the Bhavan a long delayed requirement and explained the matter to all concerned. On December 10, Tuesday the approval came through.
Pai has expressed his gratitude to chief minister B S Yediyurappa, Kannada, Culture and Tourism minister C T Ravi, DK DC Sindhu Rupesh, district-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Vedavyasa Kamath for their support and also thanked all those who have worked to make the Konkani Bhavan proposal a reality.
“I am confident that a new and fitting Konkani Bhavan at a suitable spot will be constructed in Mangaluru as soon as possible,” he expressed.
