Kerala hartal declared - RSS activist brutally killed in Kannur

Kannur, Sep 2, 2014: Reports have stated that RSS worker Manoj was brutally killed near Kathiroor at Diamond junction in Kannur district here on  September 1. The person killed has been named by sources as one Elanthottil Manoj, an RSS activist, his companion escaped with injuries.  The duo were taken to a hospital where Manoj was declared ’dead on arrival’.

A group of goondas waylaid Manoj who was in a car, hurled a crude bomb to create panic in the area, and then attacked Manoj and his friend with choppers and other weapons. Police have taken in six persons for investigations.


Police smell a rat regarding an incident where,  T K Rajeesh, one of the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, and his accomplices attempted to kill  Manoj a few years ago. It may be recalled, Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan was murdered in Onchiyam, Kozhikode in 2012.

Activists belonging to  RSS called for a state-wide hartal from 6 am to 6 pm on September 2,  to appease the murder. Ganeshotsava celebrations in Kasargod and Manjeshwar, have exempted bandh in those places. Schools and colleges will remain closed. It may be noted the attack took place while BJP’s national president Amit Shah was visiting Kerala. RSS-BJP leaders expressed suspicion that CPI(M) motivated the killing.
