Mangalore, July 15, 2013: All Kerala Tantri Samaj to hold ‘Nakshatra Vraksha’ programme at Sri Vilayitthur Sri Kuttichathan temple, Payyoli from September 1 to September 12.

Addressing the press meet held at Sharada Vidyalaya School hall on July 15, Monday, Eshani Namboodri, President of Tantri Community said that as per the sayings of elders, one tree is equal to ten sons and the birth stars will change the life. But today we have forgotten our birth stars as well as environment protection, he said. Hence this programme of distributing the saplings would create the awareness among the people on Shastras and on environment protection also, he added.

He also said that on Sep 8, all the renowned and saintly tantris will perform special puja to Nakshatra saplings and distribute them to devotees. He said that the Temple offers pooja not just to the idols but to the God found in the mother as well as nature which gives a meaning to the lives of people.

 Former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Defence Minister A K Antony, Union Minister K K Gopal, Lok Sabha opposition minister Sushma Swaraj, CPIM leader Brinda Karat will participate in the 12 day long programme.

Apart from it scientists, thinkers, film stars are also expected to participate, he added.

Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt who also spoke, said that neglecting the environment is the major reason for the natural calamities. According to scientists, the recent Uttarakhand flood was also a result of destruction of nature, he pointed out.  The seer also extended his wholehearted co-operation to the Nakshatra Vraksha programme.

 MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dr R S Sharma, Kodeyoor Jayanarayan, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Harikrishna Punaroor, M B Puranik, Sulochana G K Bhat and others were present.
