Kasargod: Three held for Madrasa teacher’s murder

Kasargod, Mar 24, 2017: Three culprits have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a madrasa teacher in Pazhaya Choori in Kasargode district. Muhammad Riaz Maulavi (30), a native of Kodagu and a teacher at the Juma Masjid at Pazhaya Choori, was found dead in his room on March 20.

Madrassa teach..The Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Kannur Crime Branch SP Dr. A Sreenivasan, on March 23 night, has arrested Ajeesh, Nithin and Akhilesh of Kasargode district in connection with the crime.

Dr. Sreenivasan has informed the Kerala Kaumudi Flash that the culprits will be presented before the court on March 24. North Zone ADGP Rajesh Divan has arrived to evaluate the investigation. The investigation team includes Kannur IG Mahipal, DYSP Sukumaran, CI Abdul Rashid, and Costal CI P K Sudhakaran. The arrested culprits have confessed to the police that the murder was committed to rake up communal disturbances in the area.

Riyaz has been teaching at the madrasa for the past seven years, and has been living in one of the two rooms adjacent to the mosque. The clergy who was living in the next room was woken up by noises and saw some people pelting stones at the mosque when he opened the door of his room to find out what was happening. He immediately called for help through the loudspeaker of the mosque and it was the villagers who rushed to the spot who found Riyaz dead in his room with a fatal cut on his neck.

The police and the district administration has taken proper measures to avoid any communal clashes in the area. Two wheelers have been restricted to ply in or near Manjeshwar taluk of Kasargode district, and within the limits of the Bakel police station. District police chief K G Simon has stated that the restriction will continue until further notice. Meanwhile the district collector K Jeevan Babu has withdrawn the restriction implemented within the limits of the Kanjangad police sub-divison.

The situation becomes worse by the political interference, In this case we cannot say that they have done it to give rise to communal disturbances ? because by doing so what ill they get ? Investigation in the case is must only then we can decide on............
