Kasargod, Oct 5,2016 : In a major burglary reported from Kundamkuzhy, thieves who broke into a jewellery shop have stolen gold jewellery weighing nearly 500 gms apart from 4 kg of silver. The theft which took place on October 3, Monday night came to light the next morning.
The shop belonged to K Ashok, Secretary of the District Gold Merchants Association. The thieves who made their way into the shop by breaking open the shutter using an electric cutter, later broke the locker and decamped with 56.25 sovereigns of gold and 4 kg silver apart from Rs 10,000 cash.
The thieves who had broken a mini locker, however could not open the large locker. Senior police officials are investigating the case.
