Kasargod, June 26, 2014: In a major breakthrough, the Kasargod Anti-Narcotics Cell apprehended the prime accused in a drugs racket case on June 25, Wednesday.Interestingly, the arrest comes almost a year after the cops had seized 52 kg of ganja.
The arrested person is Mohammad Haneef alias Batlu Haneef (42) hailing from Hidayatnagar in Uppala. He was wanted in connection with the case of seizing 52 kg ganja while it was being transported in a Tata Sumo vehicle from Trissur. The ganja was found concealed in the roofing of the Tata Sumo.
The police had then arrested the vehicle driver KM Nawaz (32) of Kottayam and CH Saleem (32) of Neeleshwar. Later, three others namely Roy, Raghu and Shaji were arrested in the case.
Some documents which the police could get hold of revealed that Haneef was the mastermind who was finally arrested in Uppala on Wednesday.
The arrests were made by a team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell led by its DySP Suresh Babu.
