Kasargod : 4 sand smugglers arrested for attempting to kill cops

Kasargod, July 3, 2014: A police team led by Kasargod DySP has succeeded in arresting four persons who had attempted to kill police personnel including an ASP by crashing a tipper lorry against the vehicle of the latter. Those arrested are Siddique alias Kichamani Siddique (18), Vijay Crasta (21) of Seetangoli, Farsil Ahmed (23) of Angadimogaru and Abdul Azeez (22) of Seetangoli.

 The four have been charged with attemptto kill the cops by crashing their tipper lorry against  the jeep in which ASP Jithendranath and his team was travelling. The incident had occurred when the police who were on routine checking near Perla on June 29   had signalled the vehicle to stop. The assailants had then dumped the sand in the tipper virtually on the road and the police jeep before fleeing.

Police had seized the tipper transporting sand as well as a car which was an escort to the  tipper. A special team led by DySP P Ranjith was also formed to nab the culprits.

 It is learnt the assailants had purchased the tipper lorry from one Raghunath just two months ago. The group was said to be involved in sand smuggling since the past three years.
