Kasargod, May 17, 2019: In Cricket, getting out on duck is always a big embarrassment for a proper batsman, and it becomes a bigger embarrassment if all 10 batsmen get out for a duck. The Kasargod Under-19 girls’ team suffered an embarrassing defeat as all their 10 batters were dismissed for a zero, against Wayanad Under-19 girls at the Perinthalmanna Cricket stadium in Malappuram district, on Thursday.

Kasaragod Under-19 batters couldn’t muster even a single run with the bat as they were bundled out for just 4 runs on the board — all of which came through extras.Interestingly, the mode of dismissal was the same all ten batters as they were bowled out by the Wayanad bowlers.

Skipper Nithya Loordh was the pick of the bowlers as she scalped three wickets in a span of just six deliveries to start the carnage. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Kasaragod captain S Akshata wouldn’t have though in her wildest of dreams that the team will fail to score even a single runs off the bat.

Chasing the modest target, Wayanad batters scored the required 5 runs in one over and recorded a comprehensive 10-wicket win.

“It is quite embarrassing and shocking really. It is our best available team. We don’t have a woman coach. So, we utilize the services of one of our senior players, who has played at the zonal level as the coach of the U-19 team. At least a couple of players in our U-19 team had played zonal last year. Wayanad is one of the best teams in the state when it comes to women’s cricket. But even then, this performance from our team is inexplicable,” Noufal PH, Kasaragod district cricket association secretary, was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
