Karthika Pournami Celebrations at Sri Venkataramana Temple

Mangalore, Nov 2: Karthika Pournima Deepotsava, a 2-day annual festival, was inaugurated at Shri Venkataramana Temple and Mahamayi Temple of Car Street on Nov 2, Monday. Devotees flocked to the site in large numbers on that day. 

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the bursting of crackers; and like every year, the fireworks show was the centerpiece of this annual festival. The idols of Goddess Mahamayi and Lord Venkataraman were placed in a single rath (chariot) stationed in front of Sri Venkataramana Temple. Later, the images were taken in a grand procession to another chariot stationed at Dongerkeri. 

Devotees accepted sweet as well as spicy prasadam, after which an auction of fruits, vegetables, and edible goodies was organized.
