Karkala : Uppinangady man arrested on charges of raping college student

Karkala, Jan 22, 2021:      The Karkala police have arrested a  38 year old man from Uppinangady on the charges  of raping a college student.

 

The accused has been identified as Praneshi.  The  victim had lodged a  complaint in the town police station on January 20, Wednesday alleging that she  was raped after offering her juice laced with sedatives by the accused.

According to the complainant the accused who was a known to her  paternal uncle, had offered to drop her to college while she was waiting at Karkala, but  instead took her to a house at Bandaru in Uppinangady where he raped her after offering her juice laced with sedatives. She had alleged that the accused had then begun to threaten her  of making  public her nude photos if she was not co-operative and had  again raped her on January 12 at a house at Guddeyangady. She also said the house  belonged to the employer of the accused.

The accused is an already married man and was reportedly a distant relative of the victim.

Further investigations are underway.
