Karkala : Attur St Lawrence Feast draws to a close

Karkala, Feb 01, 2019: The Annual Feast of the St Lawrence Minor Basilica at Attur in Karkala concluded on January 31, Thursday. Thousands of devotees participated in the five day festivities of the shrine. The theme of this year’s Feast was "I am Blessed, you too are Blessed."

 

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese presided over the Holy Eucharistic celebration held on the concluding day which also marked the Feast of Our Lady of Guidance.

The  Mass was concelebrated by Fr George D’Souza, Rector, St Lawrence Minor Basilica, Fr Jencil Alva, Assistant Priest, Fr Joswy Fernandes, Dean, Karkala Deanery and  several other priests.

Delivering the Homily, Fr Gerald Isaac Lobo  exhorted the  faithful to lead a meaningful life by  extending a helping hand to the needy in the society. He also  recalled the life of St Lawrence who always  strived for the poor.

Masses in Konkani and Kannada were held during the five days of the feast. The festive masses on the different days of the feast were celebrated by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop Emeritus of  Mangaluru Diocese, Dr Robert Miranda, Bishop, Diocese of Gulbarga, Dr Peter Machado, Archbishop, Bangalore Archdiocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and Dr  Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop, Diocese of Beltangady.
