Kargil martyrs honoured, tributes paid in city

Mangaluru, July 27, 2019: Several solemn  programmes were  organised in the city to mark the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, Friday.

Dakshina Kannada Ex-servicemen’s Association organised a programme to observe Kargil Vijay Diwas at the war memorial in Kadri Hills.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mudipu, observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to remember India’s victory and to pay tributes to Kargil martyrs who were the symbols of courage and sacrifice. The students sang patriotic songs. They also staged a play depicting the Kargil War. Anurag, a student of class 10, highlighted the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the sacrifices of war heroes.

Principal V Srinivasan said that the feeling of patriotism should be instilled at the school level to make sure that students become responsible citizens of the country.

Indian Coastal Guard observed Kargil Vijay Diwas by inviting students from Amrita Vidyalayam to visit their Hovercraft.

The Home Guards also observed Kargil Vijay Diwas at their office. Commandant Dr Muralee Mohan Choontharu addressed the Home Guards.
