Bantwal, Sep 05, 2015: Police who are investigating into the recent case of murder of a youth and attack on two of his friends in the Kanyana market area during broad daylight have succeeded in arresting two of the accused. A car as well as the weapons used by the assailants during the attack have been seized. The arrests were made on September 4, Friday.
Those arrested are Rafique alias Nappate Rafique alias Mohammad Rafique (26) from Attegoli in Kayyara near Uppala and Paddu alias Padmanabha (24) from Bayikatte in Paivalike. Paddu was driving the car carrying the assailants.
It is learnt, the assailants who had come from Kasargod had attacked the three friends who had come to attend a wedding at Kanyana. A youth named Asif was killed while Hakim and Riyaz were seriously injured in the attack which was said to be in retaliation to the attack on the life of Zia from Paivalike about a year ago.
It is learnt, the police managed to arrest the duo based on the revelations of Ikku alias Mohammad Iqbal Poyyagadde, the autorickshaw driver who assisted the assailants to flee after the murder.
The arrests were made by a police team led by circle inspector K U Belliappa. Nappate Rafique who was arrested on Friday is said to be a notorious criminal wanted in connection with several cases.
