Udupi, Nov 5, 2016 : After Jodukare Kambala, the State High Court has also permitted the traditional Kambala. The court granted permission for traditional Kambala in accordance to the Government order of December 17, 2015 after conducting a hearing with regard to the petition filed by the District Traditional Kambala Samithi questioning the Deputy Commissioner’s action of denying permission to the traditional sport.
With the Court now staying the orders of the Deputy Commissioner, the path is clear in Dakshina Kannada to hold Kambala. The High Court had already stayed the Udupi district administration decision to ban Kambala.
As per the guidance of former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde, the Traditional Kambala Committee General Secretary Cherkady Ashok Kumar Hegde had filed the writ. Advocate Shashikiran Shetty was the legal counsel of the Samithi.
Kambala organisers and lovers are immensely pleased now that the High Court has granted its green signal to Kambala.
