Mangalore, July 17, 2014: Senior RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat has succeeded in securing an anticipatory bail in connection with the case of delivering an inflammatory speech at the Hindu Sangama at Gurupur a few months ago. The District and Sessions Court granted the anticipatory bail to Bhat.
Earlier, the court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant against Bhat in the wake of a charge sheet filed against him on the basis of a complaint by Mohammad in Bajpe police station alleging that Bhat had delivered a communally provocative speech at the meeting held at Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt on January 5.
Padma Prasad Hegde who is Bhat’s advocate in the case had argued that Bhat’s speech had not aimed at hurting religious sentiments of any community and that he had only said that the government was interested in banning some practices in Hinduism on the pretext of banning superstitions.
