Mandd Sobhann has selected Anuradha Dhareshwar, a resident of Dharwad, for the Thomas Stephen’s Konkani Kendr Carvalho Gharanne Kalaakar Puraskar - 2009 as a mark of recognition for her various musical talents and her contributions to Konkani music.
Kalaakar Puraskar is an annual award given to distinguished Konkani artistes from Karnataka. It comprises a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, a citation letter, and a trophy. The award has been presented for the past five years. So far, Arun Raj Rodrigues (theater), Joel Pereira (music), Harry D’Souza (brass band), and Fr Charles Vas (devotional music) have won this award.
This year, Fr. George Santhumayer, the superior of Carmelites, Bikarnakatte, will present the award on the occasion of the 95th monthly theater of Mandd Sobhann at 6 p.m. on November 1, Sunday, in Kalaangann.
Mr. Sidhanath Buyao and his troupe from Goa will stage an exclusive musical show on this occasion.
