Kadaba youth who was conned by hackers; released from Saudi prison

Kadaba, Nov 20, 2023: Chandrashekhar, a youth from Kadaba who was jailed in Riyadh for 11 months on charges of cheating after he fell victim to bank account hackers, has been released and is expected to arrive hometown on Monday.

 

Chandrashekhar who earlier used to work in Bengaluru had moved to Saudi Arabia in 2022 following a promotion. In November last year he had been to a shop for purchase of mobile and SIM card where he had given his thumb impression twice. A week later his mobile phone received a message in Arabic language. He had opened the message and two days later he received a call seeking information about his SIM and he had told his OTP. A week later the local police had arrested Chandrashekhar.

Ironically, hackers had opened a bank account in his name. The account had received cash from a woman’s account and it was later transferred to an overseas account. The woman had lodged a complaint after she realized that the amount from her account had been credited to Chandrashekhar’s account following which he was arrested.

It is learnt, he has now been released after realizing that he was innocent.
